What is somatoemotional release (ser)?
SomatoEmotional Release is a very gentle and effective modality that involves dialoguing with the body to uncover and release trauma and its symptoms in a way that my client’s system can fully integrate.
A SomatoEmotional Release session is a type of Somatic Therapy that works to gently release trauma held within the body. I hold a safe, non-judgemental space and ensure that I work at the pace of my clients’ system. I use gentle touch to address areas of holding and we can dialogue with the body or the “inner physician” to glean more information when personal blocks are holding us back.
We have all experienced trauma in our life, it’s a part of being human. Some trauma sticks with us when it’s not able to naturally dissipate and begins to create symptoms. These may be subtle or not and can include but is not limited to: chronic pain, disease, digestive issues, anxiety and depression.
How often and how many treatments will you need?
I generally recommend that each person listens to what their body is asking for. Each body will respond differently. Sometimes the shifts are profound and immediate while other times the body is more subtle and progressive. There is no “one size fits all” approach.
